The New American Songbook
The New American Songbook is a podcast that brings immigrant stories to life through music-centric storytelling.
How do you create an icon for a podcast about music, without making it literal? Rather than focus on iconography that explicitly spoke to the podcast’s musical subject matter, I narrowed in first on the way stories crossed international, generational, and linguistic boundaries. The final “tuning fork” icon tackles the program’s emphasis on intersectionality and interconnectivity, while also upholding its musical link.
The icon combined with a down-to-earth color palette and a grounded, confident typographic setting brought the podcast’s mission to life.
